A fairly eclectic mix of things. Machining, Moto Morini motorcycles, electric vehicles and a few outside projects.

Intelligent video again. From Oz
No envy here I just love crawling around underneath my cars... just love it.. no envy, none, not a suasage
I envy your work area
I've been steadily expanding my facilities for the last 30 years.
Well done. You have inspired me to pay mine some well-earned attention Obtaining parts downunder is somewhat difficult
Keep at it, they're a very rewarding car to drive.
@@EVguru Yeah. I have a TVR Griffith 500 that I drive the most now but I have owned my Excel for 27 years and love it
Ambitious project - mine is staying petrol based
So is my other Excel.
Nice video Paul:)
Hi Paul, I see Moto Morinis proved to be too simple for you and you found something more challenging!
looks like a commando doing the job🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's a Royal Engineer's jacket, given to me by a friend.
Hello. Nice job friend. Can you tell me the size of the 4-point wrench? The one you welded to avoid the inside. Thank you
Sorry, far too long ago to remember.
do you know where i can get mine repaired please morini 74 sport
Nice
Any chance you will offer these for sale
No, they take too long to make in low volumes.
Im not so sure about the replacement of the drag strut/roll bar with a bearing. You are now relying on the anti roll bar bush to deflect a hell of a lot more. This is because the roll bar arm moves in an arc and you will be pulling and pushing that lower arm a lot more. With the original rubber or polyurathane bush, at least there was the ability to give and take with the arc movement.
The anti-roll bar constrains the fore and aft movement of the lower arm, which has a considerable flex at the inner bush.
Nice job, makes perfect sense and makes good use of the years of experience from repairing OEM off the shelf designs that were never optimum for any one vehicle 👍
Ciao Paul, what kind of motor oil u suggest for Morini? 10W40 or better 10W50. I have 3 1/2 GT 1974 😊 Thank you 🙏
Original specified oils were Castrol GTX (20W50) or Castrol RS (15W50 full synthetic). The later with a longer service interval, but at a much, much, higher price. Into the Cagiva era, the specified oil was Sint Agip 2000 10W40 semi-synthetic. This is the oil type that North Leicester Motorcycles always recommended (they were in touch with the factory when the were still in existence) and I've mostly run a 10W40 semi in my '77 Sport. For the past few years, I've run a full synthetic, but only because it was the same price as the semi and I bought quite a lot of it.
@@EVguru thank you Paul 🙏
Genius!! Thank a lot for this 🙏🙏
There are videos how to correct without grinding the jaws getting even .01mm or less just tapping no hardly on the jaw of max deviation.
Hi, have you managed ok with the 2500? Im looking now and am undecided if i should buy the 3500 or the 2500...do you know what the difference is? I cant find out on website other than maybe dimensionality different. I contacted them but thought id ask if you were ok with the 2500 no regrets etc. Cheers
Difference is extra 1000kg lifting capacity. Pretty sure everything else is same. If you search all dimensions are listed on the website. I have the 2500 which is perfect for a Boxster.
Thanks, I've opted for the KL2500HE, slightly longer lift platform and slightly longer laid flat...also gives you more height approx 3". So should work across my cars bmw f11 mk2 and 3 escort , and Sierra all seem to work with the dimensions of the KL2500HE. 👍🤞
Just learning about vapor blasters and I'm curious...is a pump actually required? It seems that since we can simply insert a pickup tube into dry media and the compressed air will suck that through the hose, that the same can apply to a water + media slurry. The slurry obviously needs agitated to keep the media mixed with the water but I think that can be achieved with regulated air. Am I missing something?
The media is quite dense and falls out of suspension very quickly. You need strong agitation to maintain the slurry. Adding air to water reduces the density, so the media would fall out even faster.
Nicely explained....❤
I’m doing a restomod on a lotus esprit S4 and I’ve wondered what parts I can possibly use to replace retired parts that are becoming increasingly difficult to source. Thanks for the food for thought!
Boggles my mind. Some man for one man lol. 😂 I can't even spell drwill
The saving was worth the set up time. Zeus tables, best investment any machinist / engineer will ever make.
Nice job Paul, all the best.
I like your common sense problem solving thought process. Sort of a “less is more” approach.
A very sensible mod and something I'll definitely look into doing on Foxanne with the Gaz shocks, thanks to your advice.
Good job Paul. Next is the movable top shaft. Jere
Thanks Jere. Not 100% sold on the moveable shaft yet. An threaded collar on the shaft and spacer rings is a possibility.
Esta en venta la motocicleta? Espero que este recuperado.
As a proof of concept, that looks good. Well done 👍
Are you ex British Aerospace? That clamp looks very much like the ones we made in apprentice training.
No, I'm an ex electronics engineer (self taught). Toolmakers clamps are a common apprentice piece, but that one was a commercially made Eclipse. I have several sizes and at least one pair are shop made.
Fiddly work but satisfying. Nice to see you finding some time for the Excel. Did you consider making alloy pins and hard anodising them yourself? A bit of a learning curve but it can be done without huge outlay or complicated equipment. Facing a similar issue with motorcycle swing arm spindle that has 4 x needle roller bearings running on hardened sleeves but no means of lubrication without complete disassembly.
Decorative Anodising isn't too hard, but functional coatings are more difficult.
Wish I had your skills. Had to change the door beams on my Excel a couple of years ago and it for an awful faf.. Hope I never have to again. We'll done 👍
I wish I had Paul's skills too Andy! :-)
Looking forward to the quick release details 👍
Looking forward to your improvements. Thanks Paul.
This will be a fun project!
Fitzee bought a similar bead roller and made a video series on how he modified his.
Hi Paul Chinese Tooling as usual sad to say, hope to see more on the Scirocco project. All the best.
What's the price
do you sell it?great videos!
have you got a gilera cx?amazing
I used to have two. One was destroyed in a crash on the way home from work (think there's a video on the result) and I later sold the other.
great video Paul
